Linux Mint 15 cinnamon for the operatiing system

When the machine boots I get the message that Cinnamon crashed and a question to continue or stop Cinnamon.

I choose NO to stop cinnamon and the machine reverts to another desktop i think is Gnome but i'm not sure about that. The menu is at the top left instead of at the bottom left and there seems to be a reduced functionality in the menu though I may just need to investigate Gnome to learn the menu.

I'm wondering what would cause Cinnamon to crash and what can I do about getting Cinnamon on the machine for my desktop.

Thanks,
Nate

I'm having the same issue, on two different platforms. Cinnamon crashes and will not run.

Is there a way to disable it and run another without doing a complete download?

eagleeye:
I don't know about disabling it .... Mine reverts back to gnome i think but not sure even that is not right the screen is black i can't get it to accept a wallpaper picture in face i don't even hae the option to look at different wallpapers. the menu is there but the shutoff icon is not there . This computer was running mint 14 for a few months and it didn't run cinnamon either but it would load wallpaper and the menu though different was complete.

I'm wondering if i should download the KDE version or some other desktop?????????? I really like Cinnamon though!

Thanks,
Nate

I used the second line in Grub . I don't remember how it reads but it's a troubleshooting mode.

I didn't know what to do with it but just running that mode at least gave me Cinnamon in a very reduced display and all things worked ...
It said that I was running without video hardware accelleration and the temp was going to rise but i dont' see that yet

thanks,
Nate

My system boots but cinnamon crashes with a message to restart cinnamon or to not start cinnamon nothing happens when you restart cinnamon and if yoiu don't it is in a gnome desktop i believe but not fully a functional gnome.
So i run linux in RECOVERY MODE which is in one of the pictures which tells me there is something wrong with my video which is the on board video. The setup finds my monitor which is at top

I gave up in Cinnamon and downloaded Mint. It has run much better on everything I've installed it on. Most of my hardware is 8-10 years old, or older.
