Mint 15 doesn't install C++ compiler or appear to have one

Post by seasoned_geek »

I'm running 64-bit AMD version of Mint 15 KDE. I installed the QtCreator and SDK packages, but there is NO C++ compiler installed. When I look in Synaptic I don't even find build-essentials or a C++ compiler for this machine. Lots of ARM stuff, but no AMD.

Where do I get a C++ compiler to make the packaged qtcreator work?

No, it isn't installed by default. Search g++ in the package manager and you will find it.

It wasn't listed anywhere in Synaptic. Nor was I informed about this error.

This seems to be a perpetual problem with 15. I never had the issue with 13. Once I followed the instructions to clean this "warning" up, I was able to find g++.
