What is the best Method to uninstall Linux Mint ?

Post by LinuxN00bTM »

I Installed Mint alongside windows 8 by mistake, now it's being dual booted with it through rEFInd boot manager.
My plan was to install it on a seperated drive,so what is the best way to uninstall from the same (C) drive windows 8 is installed on,and will i have any conflicts when i reinstall it on a seperated drive.
Thanks.

Boot into Win8, delete the Mint partition, expand the Win8 partition to its original size.
Boot into the live DVD, install on the other drive.

Not sure about any problems you might encounter regarding Win8, but if you've gotten everything working so far I'd feel confident that the rest will work.

i cant view the Mint partition in "Disk Management" from windows 8,
I see the "c" drive which both Mint and Windows are installed on,the "D" drive and the unallocated space that i intended to install Mint on.

Did you install Mint using mint4win? (ie. while Windows was running)
If so, the procedure is a bit different.

Assuming you didn't, you could also:
-boot into the live DVD
-delete the partition you accidentally created
-install on the correct partition
-boot into Windows
-use the Disk Management tool to increase the Windows partition size

Thank you, I followed your instructions and it worked. Now I'm done with the new fresh install.
