Ubuntu AND Linux Mint Don't Work (Live CD).

Postby Ali » Fri Jul 18, 2008 10:20 am

I've tried installing Linux Mint, I have downloaded it from a torrent and a mirror and burnt them on different CDS using an ISO burner software and they didn't install giving me some errors. I have also tried usinmg a Ubuntu CD which came in the mail and that gives me some other errors.

The Errors come up when i use live CD.

Is it something to do with my PC?
Should I try dual-booting it with XP Home?

What errors? Try booting in compatibility mode. With Mint live CD, hit any key during the countdown, and select compatibility mode.

If you fail on install with BOTH your Mint CD and the Ubuntu you got in the mail from Canonical, then the problem is not likely a corrupted CD. It could be a bad drive, or it could be an incompatable computer. It probably has something to do with your PC. Not knowing the errors makes anything more just pure guesswork.
