How to improve on slow boot time in xfce

Postby flogger » Thu Jul 24, 2008 2:07 pm

Hi all, My Mint Linux (with Xfce) takes 2:30 to start. I would like to improve on this. The various posts I have read seem to be for specific boot problems but I am not sure what the culprit is in my case. How do I find out what is slowing the start up and fix it? The sht down time is pretty slow as well... Otherwise everything in between is great!

Cheers
Nick

Glad to hear that - and welcome to Mint!
My main also has a slow boot maybe a minute and a half and it's been getting slower
Which part of boot takes the most time?
Before or after login?

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
