Mint hangs on first boot

Postby poogan » Sun Sep 07, 2008 8:13 pm

Really like LM from the Live CD - works great!

I'm installing Mint to a completely blank laptop (Live CD works fine with the laptop). Everything installs properly, and on that first reboot after the installation, the machine seems to hang at the Mint loading screen (bar goes back and forth). I can AltF1,2 etc to the various terminals, but I don't get a prompt to actually try anything. I've tried recovery mode as well, and it basically does the same thing minus the fancy Mint screen.

I have tried installing Ubuntu 8.04 to the drive and there are no problems there (seeing as LM is Ubuntu based). Reboots/operates as expected.

Any thoughts?

You don't get any error messages when booting into compatibility mode?
