Linuxmint 17 Cinnamon Install Default Login

Post by Cocolate » Sat Jun 14, 2014 9:15 pm

Booting from USB starting linuxmint - Default - or any way to install a new fresh linuxmint is asking me for a username and password.

Ive tried -

Mint/[enter]
Mint/password
username/password
admin/password
root/toor
root/password
root/passwd
Ctrl+Alt+F1/"mdm-recovery"

NONE OF THESE ARE WORKING

WHAT IS THE LOGIN PASS???????????????

did you try root/root? Also try mint/enter-key, mint/mint, Mint/Mint, Mint/enter-key, enter-key/enter-key, root/enter-key, enter-key/root,....

mint17/

Mint17/

and variants.

At worst, reinstall. If you already had a mint install and maybe installed on top of it, then try that username and password for it.
==========================

Also could try and set one from the terminal screen. Press CTRL-ALT-F1 key combo and see if you can use the default mint as username and then enter key as passwd.

If you get a prompt, you could try running this command

Code: Select all

sudo passwd root
==========================
All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....

I already cleared it up on the other post. Creation error. USB was on ext 4 not ext 2. That solved the problem when I made it correctly. Thanks
