Clean Upgrade fm Ubuntu 13.04 to LM17 w/ packages

I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 with Cinnamon (Unity completely removed) mostly because a 13.04 update broke my display driver and I couldn't fix it. Didn't like Unity anyway. Love Cinnamon.

I've been waiting for LM17 so I can get the LTS ubuntu core but in the mean time 13.04 has gone past end-of-life. I want to preserve all my packages, settings, etc. using aptik but it will no longer install in 13.04. I guess one way would be to do a (dirty) update to ubuntu 13.10, then install aptik, then upgrade (clean) to LM17.

Anyone know a easier way?

Apparently my idea to update from 13.04 to 13.10 then install aptik then upgrade to LM17 won't work either.

Tried the 13.04 update to 13.10 today. Lots of error messages. Don't know if they were inspired by 13.04 being EOL (End of Life) or the presence of the Cinnamon. So I'm making a list of all my installed packages figuring I'll have to do it all manually.

Still hoping someone will jump in here with advice how to automate transfer of all the packages. <G>
