Try this...
to install the synaptics driver. If it is missing it will load it, otherwise you will be advised that it is already installed.
You need to open system settings > mouse and touchpad > touchpad and click yes to "enable touchpad".
I can't help with sound as it has just worked for me.

I have tried that but the latest version was already present. So it did not help. Looking forward to see other suggestions on trouble shooting
