Linux Mint 17 OS disc

I have attempted to install Linux Mint 17 using a disc I bought from osdisc.com. Here's what happens when I boot with this disc:

1. CMOS screen comes on.
2. Screen displays: Linux Mint
Automatic boot in 7 seconds
3. Screen displays Linux Mint logo for about 1 minute.
4. Entire process starts over again.

Either the disc is defective or there's something wrong with my computer. I have previously booted with a Linux Mint 16 disc with no problem. I contacted osdisc.com about this by email. Any suggestions?

that may be a video problem:

on the screen that says "boot in x sec",
- press the down arrow key, - to the line that mentions compatibility mode,
then press enter, on that line.

- do check that all of your PCs hardware works, with the live_system,
before clicking on the install icon.

I did what you suggested. After several screens full of text, the main screen came up, along with a message:

Running in software rendering mode

Cinnamon is currently running without video hardware
acceleration and, as a result, you may observe much
higher than normal CPU usage.

There could be a problem with your drivers or some other
issue. For the best experience, it is recommended that
you only use this mode for troubleshooting purposes.

Is there a specific screen resolution I should be running? My current resolution is 1280 x 720. If I have a video problem, why does version 16 of Linux boot
without a problem? You mention testing all my hardware to see if it works. My keyboard and mouse both work fine. My printer, I have no idea how to test that.
Same goes for speakers and video. As for Internet, I tried the Firefox browser and could not connect.

I have the same problem you have except my monitor is at 1920x1080 resolution so I can't see how the screen resolution would be the cause. I have proceeded from this point to attempt to install Mint 17 Cinnamon 64 bit. However it tells me that there is no operating system present on my 1tb hard drive and shows a completely empty drive available even though I have Windows 7 installed on the drive and have partitioned it to accept the Mint installation. As it does not recognise Windows 7 I can't proceed with the installation or Windows will be completely over-written. I am sorry that I do not have an answer for you or myself at this point except to throw serious doubt on the problem being screen resolution.

it may still be a video driver issue,
so whilst still in 'software rendering mode'
- proceed with a install to your hdd
then see if you can update the driver.

Btw: when running in live_mode - does the Mint O/S,
- mention anything about a video driver download being available?.

Can you post back (copy/paste) the results of this command run in Terminal?

To Pierre: I get no mention about a video driver update while in live-mode. Regarding the command you want me to use--is CODE: SELECT ALL part of the command?
One issue that nobody has addressed is why I had no trouble with Linux Mint 16. What is the difference between version 16 and version 17 that would cause this problem? I am not going to install Mint 17 until I can get this problem resolved.

Continuation of my problem getting Linux Mint 17 installed. I notice from looking at Installation and Boot forum, a lot of people besides myself are having trouble getting Linux Mint 17 installed. I have had several indications that this could be a video problem. So what are my options? How do I find out what video drivers I need to solve this problem? I can't believe nobody in this forum knows what the video requirements are for Linux Mint 17. By the way, I submitted the results of the inxi -Fxz command. So far, no comments on this.
