Install hang at "Detecting file systems..." 15%

Hi

Im trying an install on a older pc,dell 1.2ghz, 512 with mint 5 fluxbox. 3 downloads and 5 cd's later it all hangs at the same spot. So i tried mint xfce, same exact thing. The hd is 60gig, with no problems on the pc, and partition editor sees it fine on install, and ive tried every option on it (manual, use all of the drive, guided etc).

Is there some problem detecting drives on older pc's? Or some way around it? Id like to get it up and running.

Thanks

So you have done the partitioning and it hangs shortly after that?
To be sure - did you check the md5sum and burned at the lowest speed possible?
Partitioning and setting up grub are the points where the install crashes the most, but you are past partitioning....
And if I read you right you don't have lots of partitions....
I must say I don't know what's happening but by the look of it there should not be any problems with that computer.

Im not sure what the problem was..... I got around it by running partition editor, created and formated as ext3 the partition (and a swap) before the install on the live cd. I started the install, and went custom for partitions, set the pre made ext3 partition to be used as / and not to format.

And bingo it worked. Same results for xfce and flux editions.

Hope it helps someone in the future.

This only confirms that there is a problem with partitioning in Ubiquity
It may not have been done properly.....
