strange shutdown error - please help

Post by frisil » Mon Jul 06, 2015 7:40 pm

I have just encountered a strange KERNEL PANIC screen on shutdown (see attachment), computer didn't react and I had to kill power manually. When I rebooted, everthing seemed fine. Or is it?

The system has been running for over a year and it's about the 3rd time I've got something like this. Most of the time it shuts down normally. This time I took a photo and made a copy of /var/log before rebooting. But where do I find the cause of this in /var/log?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes in /var/log/ you will see kernel log check it, but it seems to me you will need to update your firmware/BIOS and upgrade your kernel. In any case, some details (about computer, hardware, systems installed, MInt edition and desktop, kernel installed,...) are needed.

Also look, for your UEFI/BiOS setting in your vendor's support web and learn how some special functions as NetBIOS, wake on LAN, C-states, etc. would be related to this problem.
