trouble installing linux mint on my fujitsu notebook system

Postby plopes02 » Sun Jan 04, 2009 6:39 pm

stats
Fujitsu S6231 Lifebook
Pentium M 1.7GHz, 594Mhz
2x512MB RAM
Bios Phoenix v1.05
Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics

When installing Linux 6 using the livecd at 80% completion the monitor displays vertical bands of color and the installation never finishes. I have used this livecd to install Linux Mint 6 on other desktops and laptops without any issues. I also tried installing Mint 5 on the Fujitsu and the same issue happened.

The md5sum was checked for both Mint 5 and Mint 6 livecd. This install issue is only occurring on the Fujitsu. The system does not reboot once the vertical bands of color are displayed, the installation just appears to stop.

I have searched both the Mint and Ubuntu forums and couldn't find any solutions. Any help would be great. If you need more specific information just let me know. Also, I am somewhat of a newbie with Mint, so please provide instructions if they are needed to obtain the additional information.

Thanks

Same frustration stalled my Mint6 installs initially. Burning a clean new CD, slowest possible speed, gave me a disc that would install properly.
