[SOLVED] Sha256sum failure? Mint Cinnamon beta 18 64bit

Post by palimmo » Sat Jun 11, 2016 4:16 am

I've downloaded the .iso from the mirror in Cologne.
The check fails, apparently. :? Am I wrong?

Code: Select all

 $ gpg --recv-key A25BAE09
gpg: requesting key A25BAE09 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net
gpg: key A25BAE09: "Linux Mint ISO Signing Key <root@linuxmint.com>" not changed

why?
Or should I look for 8a2d3a3276d36497470156063e02ba894d5b9d562a8edf856dd29ee479eb55c4 in the sha256sum.txt file?
There it is listed...

How exactly is this a failure? Output is completely correct and as expected as far as I see.

Are you being tripping up by this part?

Yes, there is no established chain of trust between you can Clem. Basically this says you don't know him in real life and you don't know anybody that does. Poor you :) Unless you sign Clem's key as trusted this is the message you get.

It is not clear for me, why you titled your thread with "sha256sum failure".

I suppose that you mean with Cologne = Netcologne. This happened to be exactly the mirror, where I downloaded the beta iso (also 64 bit here). When I did this I compared the sha 256 has sum with the one in the provided text-file and it matched exactly. So no failure to be seen.

This is the procedure to be followed:
https://linuxmint.com/verify.php

I had to read it a few times to fully understand.. :D
