Hello,

I have a little problem after the upgrade from 17.3 to 18 Cinnamon. Grub menu entries are not upgrade to 18 but the PC boot is ok (Linux Mint 18 and Win10)
I search but have not find the solution for this time.

If you have a solution or a way, thank's a lot.

Great job Clem & The Mint Team

That may happen if you upgraded with an early version of mintupgrade tool. Open the terminal from your menu and run the command cat /etc/lsb-release and cat /etc/issue. Does it say 17.3 Rosa or 18 Sarah in those files?

If it says 17.3 Rosa the solution is to download the latest version of mintupgrade from http://packages.linuxmint.com/pool/main ... .8_all.deb (save as file to disk), install the downloaded file by double-clicking in your file manager, and after installing it run the command mintupgrade upgrade again. I also had to do this after I reported that problem to Clem and he fixed it. The command will check what is already upgraded and only perform the additional steps that were missing from earlier mintupgrade script.

Thank's a lot. It's Sarah

bruno@UX303UA ~ $ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=18
DISTRIB_CODENAME=sarah
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 18 Sarah"

bruno@UX303UA ~ $ cat /etc/issue
Linux Mint 18 Sarah \n \l

Hi,

Just editing the file 10_linux in /etc/grub
replace OS="Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit"
by OS="Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64-bit"

update-grub and reboot

1 - bruno@UX303UA ~ $ sudo vi /etc/grub/10_linux

if [ "x${GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR}" = "x" ] ; then
OS=GNU/Linux
else
case ${GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR} in
Ubuntu|Kubuntu)
OS="Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64-bit"
;;
*)
OS="${GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR} GNU/Linux"
;;
esac

2 -bruno@UX303UA ~ $ sudo update-grub
3- bruno@UX303UA ~ $ sudo reboot
