It's a known problem. The system still boots OK after the messages, correct?

HI guys, i am having the same problem with the same distro (18). Only in addition to that, there is an extra line that says 'emergency mode'. Then there is a password prompt and then it dissapears to the boot logo and stays there, stuck. Im now using ubuntu 14.04 in the same machine. Any help you can give is appreciated. Thanks

I am getting the same error message since installing Sarah, but until recently it didn't prevent boot. Now it does, but not always, and not on any schedule I can detect.

As of the last couple of weeks, my system occasionally goes to text on a black screen, mentioning fifo underrun and a bunch of stuff I don't really understand. I end up at a prompt that asks for a root password to continue, which I thought I knew but apparently don't, and then refuses to boot. So far, the only way I've found to get around this is to shutdown and boot to Advanced Options, then into recovery mode. I then click the first option on the list, and when that's done, I resume normal boot, and wait to see if the login screen shows up. If it does, I don't proceed with login, because if I do login at this point, I get a message saying Cinnamon has crashed. Instead, I shut down and reboot yet again, and things usually go normally after that.

I can't really predict when the problem will occur. I dual-boot, and at one point I thought this might have been caused somehow by a sloppy Windows shutdown. But I don't think so; it happens even when I haven't booted to Win for a while. I couldn't figure out how to copy the error text here, but if (when) it happens again, I'll take a photo with my phone and post it here. Thanks for any insight.
