I have noticed one thing if power is connected suspend/resume never works. If it's on battery it works with this parameter.

Uncle,

I didn't have any luck editing that parameter either. Even turning acpi off completely didn't help. Turning off suspend in the settings worked, but that's not a practical solution. I've also played with different distros and Grub versions. This isn't limited to Mint; openSUSE 42.1 Leap, Fedora 24-1.2 and Kali 2016.1 all demonstrate the same behavior. Brad, Mint 17.2 does work, but after installing the other distros in a multiboot setting I am getting a black screen on resume (sometimes). On the bright side, I am having fun tweaking the multiboot set up and playing with different distros, but I haven't made much progress on the underlying problem other than to confirm it's not unique to Mint.

Thanks for your work on this. I have a Lenovo G50-45 almost identical to yours and have been having the same problem. Mine is set up as multiboot, and I can offer one piece of info. This problem also occurs with Legacy boot. Mine came with Windows 8.1, and I played with 10 before going back to Win 7 Pro when I set it up as a multiboot. I don't think UEFI is a part of the problem; it does look like a kernel issue and is exceedingly annoying. I was irritated a while back when I saw a security specialist compare Mint to Windows Vista because I like Mint, but this kind of performance issue reminds me of Windows ME. Thanks for pursuing this, and good luck. This distro isn't ready for primetime with problems like this.
I'm curious what BIOS version you are running? Me...

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz | grep Bios
Bios: LENOVO v: A2CN38WW(V2.06) date: 07/15/2015
and is exceedingly annoying

I'm running the same BIOS as you. I had upgraded to that one to fix a problem running VM's before I ran into this issue.

You have already tried so many Linux Distros. How about giving a try to MXLinux vesion MX-15. It's XFCE and Debian based.
