Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT

Post by mintos »

Hi,
I recently had my harddrive and my UMTS modul of my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T440s) replaced with two new harddrives (M.2 SSD instead of the UMTS module that I never used). My old Windows 8.1 image got transferred from my old harddrive to the new M.2 harddrive in the process. I didn't notice any problems when booting from it once or twice. Then I installed Linux Mint 18 Mate on my other harddrive as my main operating system with the default bootloader. Now I can boot Linux or Windows.

However, sometimes I get the following error when I start my laptop:

Code: Select all

[ 0.125155] Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT
[ 1.308964] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: priv: HUBO: 086014 ffffffff (1970820C)
[ 1.309039] nouveau 0000:04:00.0: priv: GPCO: 4188ac 00000001 (1c70822e)
What does this error mean? What causes this error? Does it indicate a hardware issue? Or is it a configuration issue (for example of the bootloader)? What should I do to fix it?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Edit: I disabled fast startup in Windows, but the error appeared again. I checked the settings after that and fast startup is still disabled.

Are you getting the error in Mint?
Please run following commands in terminal and post the output here.

Code: Select all

  dmesg | grep -i error
  inxi -Fxz
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Thank you for your post,

I have a Lenovo X250 and have similar startup problems... After I select Linux Mint 18 from Grub menu on startup, I get the same "error parsing PCC subspaces" message. When I open the terminal and run the commands you mentioned, I get:

~ $ dmesg | grep -i error
[ 0.222471] Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT
[ 2.219609] tpm_tis 00:05: A TPM error (6) occurred attempting to read a pcr value
[ 5.829208] EXT4-fs (sda1): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro
[ 6.021724] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-7265D-19.ucode failed with error -2
[ 6.021750] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-7265D-18.ucode failed with error -2

Thanks in advance for your help :)

- Make sure fast startup is disabled in windows. See this page for win8, and that page for win10.
- Make sure you have the same boot mode for windows and linux, i.e. uefi if windows 8 or 10 was preinstalled. See this page to identify your boot mode, either in windows or linux.
- Check for problem with graphic card problem. See "solving freezes" in the LM18 Mate release notes

All this I got from the first hits on google, searching for the error message :
