Testing LM 18 - Need to Rotate Screen 90 Degrees at Start Up

Post by ArchiMark »

Hope someone can please advise.....

Just got a new GPD WIN, a pocketable Win 10 laptop.

When I boot up Win 10, the display is rotated correctly.

However, when I enter BIOS settings, the display is rotated 90 degrees. Go figure.....

Want to dual boot with LM 18. So to test, I booted up with my USB flash drive with LM 18 XFCE.

Good news is that LM 18 booted up OK and I got to the LM desktop.

Bad news is the display is rotated 90 degrees just like the BIOS settings.

Very hard to navigate around when display is rotated as well as looks strange too....

So, would like to fix.

First, I'd like to see if I can get LM to start up with display rotated correctly.

Then, I'd like to fix this so it always starts up rotated correctly.

Tried adding

Code: Select all

xrandr -0 right
to the end of the parameters list in Grub. But when I tried to boot it, I saw text 'xrandr not found'. Then after it asked if I want to continue to boot, I just saw lines in console (rotated 90 degrees...) and then fairly quickly it just stopped.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Mark

UPDATE

Booted up LM again and used it while display rotated 90 degrees.

Tried doing 'xrandr -o right' in terminal.

Display went black.....

Can't get it to come back....

Fortunately, can just restart laptop.....

Edit: PS. You have the wrong command with rotating (xrandr -0 right).
The right goes xrandr -o right
