How to create a custom Mint LiveUSB?

Post by Erased » Wed Dec 21, 2016 11:45 pm

How would I go about adding packages to and changing settings of a stock Mint installation?

The reason for this is that I want to have my environment on a live usb and to avoid having to install everything every time I reinstall Mint or install it on a new machine.

I just found this tutorial https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1784
I'll come back if I have a more specific question.

Erased: if you can understand that tutorial, then you might want to take a look at debroot: https://github.com/rbern/debroot.
You can use it as a GUI front-end to unpacking and repacking iso images, and it's worked rather well each time I've used it and saved me a lot of headache. :)

If you don’t want Live full image to distribute you could try this too.

Looks interesting. I will probably use both, the tutorial using the terminal and the GUI app. Just for learning purposes :)

Unfortunately I do need to be able to use it live.
