Re: BIOS doesn't show mSATA with Mint
To update the BIOS:
1. Verify the Notebook PC’s exact model then download the latest
BIOS file for your model from the ASUS website.
2. Save a copy of the downloaded BIOS file to a flash drive.
3. Connect your flash drive to your Notebook PC.
4. Restart your Notebook PC then press F2 during POST.
5. From the BIOS menu, Select Advanced > Start Easy Flash, then
press ENTER. That starts the Setup Utility.
6. Locate your downloaded BIOS file in the flash drive then press ENTER.
7. After the BIOS update process, select Exit > Restore Defaults to
restore the system to its default settings.

Re: BIOS doesn't show mSATA with Mint
Thank you so much! It's so difficult when one has no idea WHAT to search for! Omg I hope it will work.
... It sounds pretty easy in this step by step manual. Similar to installing Linux. I will try this when I get home.

Re: BIOS doesn't show mSATA with Mint
I did steps above. BIOS file can't be read. It's unknown and in the old bios menu there is an icon of a lock when I try to install the new one.
What's more, I've blocked 2 flash disks which now became "read only" and reformating them in USB formating app doesn't work, either.
EDIT: after several restarts and some magical coincidences I was able to update the bios.
However it still doesn't recognise msata.
Does it mean there's nothing more that can be done?

Re: BIOS doesn't show mSATA with Mint
If it's not too late, send the drive and adapter card back for a refund. That converter is not compatible with your motherboard/BIOS and is therefore not bootable as advertised. At least not on your system. Get a regular PC sized SSD, an SATA type drive (non mSATA) that will connect directly to your onboard controller.cinnamoncoffee wrote:Does it mean there's nothing more that can be done?
