Dell Inspiron 11 Series 3000 laptop & Linux Mint 18.1 KDE

Post by solo1959 »

It just plain works!

I bought this little laptop the other day. It came with a 32gig drive and 4 Ram. With the installed Windows 10 I had only 5 gig free space on the drive. The salesman gave me incorrect Linux installation instructions which were very frustrating including making changes to the the BIOS settings. Forget all that. Just pop a Linux Mint 18.1 KDE USB stick in and it will completely and properly install in a matter of minutes. Don't change any settings. The install just simply works.

Now I have 30 gig free space on the drive instead of just 5. The camera, the wifi, the bluetooth ... everything works perfectly. And the machine is plenty fast for most of the things I needed a portable little laptop for.

Thank you Linux Mint team for making this possible. :D
