I have been trying every install instructions on the web and almost every Linux distribution with the same results. When I get to the partition phase of the install the only option I have is the USB stick. Gparted nor the installation portion of the install will detect my hard drive. I am using a MacBook Pro late 2016 13,2 version. Below is a system report from the MAC.

Re: HDD not detected
First off thanks for your reply. Let me clarify please. I can boot from my live USB with no trouble. When I go through the install to my Mac and get to the setting up partition section my hard drive is not listed only my USB drive. I have since learned that it may be a problem with missing drivers for the Apple NVME SSD controller. I am using a MacBook Pro late 2016 13,2 and I understand that it has a lot of problems. I have seen on GitHub a work around or patch but being new to linux all those command line entries are greek to me. My distribution mint 18.1 gives errors and missing directories and not installed software error messages when I try to run most of them.

Re: HDD not detected
That says it all now doesn't. Well for now I will wait. Hopefully it will not be much longer till it gets updated.
