Grub Boot Menu

Post by Cosmic47 » Tue Aug 08, 2017 9:15 pm

Hi, I have a small question regarding the Grub Boot menu. Just recently, my Grub menu changed from displaying Linux Mint 18.1 as the boot option to Ubuntu. I'm not entirely sure when this started, but I think it might have been after I updated my kernel from the Update Manager. Just for added information, I am currently dual booting Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon on a late 2006 iMac running Lion. My Kernel version is 4.4.0-89. I have not noticed any change in behavior so I assume this is not really an issue, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thank you in advance!

Mine has done that in the past.

Try running this command in Terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
See if that reads your installation correctly and fixes Grub.

Hi Cosmic47,
In order to have the latest security patches for your kernel you might consider installing 4.4.0-116 from
Update Manager --> View --> Linux Kernel.
At boot, that would be your default kernel.
