How to install and run Windows 10 on Linux Mint

I am trying to download and run Windows 10 instead of my current operating system Linux Mint.

I bought windows 10 and proceeded to download the .iso file. I wrote the .iso file onto a FAT32 flashdrive but it won't install or run. Nothing but Linux programs show up in the boot order (using Grub).
Also I can't download the windows media creation tool, when I try it takes me to the .iso download page telling me that it doesn't work on my operating system (which might not matter anyway).
Please help!

You have to change the boot order in BIOS to make USB boot work in most cases

Hello InNeedOfHelp Image

Welcome to Linux Mint and the Linux Mint forum :)

You would boot to the flash drive directly the from BIOS/Setup screen by pressing F2 or F10 immediately after turning on the computer.

The keys vary for manufacturer and some show on the screen when you first start.

Be advised that installing Windows will blow-away your Linux installation.

IF you want to dual boot, then you have to install windows first, then Linux. Windows doesn't play well with other OS's.

If you choose to download an ISO file so you can create a bootable file from a DVD or USB drive, copy the Windows ISO file onto your drive and then run the Windows USB/DVD Download Tool. Then simply install Windows onto your computer directly from your USB or DVD drive. (from MS)

If that is what you are trying to do, you'll need to do it on a windows machine.

Thank you for the welcome! Pressing F2 and F10 take me in and out of a pure black screen and then takes me to a blank code terminal. I didn't see any option for a BIOS or Setup screen. I'm using a HP computer if that makes a difference.

Every site I check like this one says to press the F10 key.

Try tapping it repeatedly right after starting the computer

I should post a clarification...you cannot just copy an .iso to a disk - it has to be burned on to the disk. Use something like Imageburn or whatever to do it.

If you want to make a bootable Windows 10 USB to replace Mint, I recommend using WoeUSB. You can follow this video if you need help on using it. (https://youtu.be/A8KNg6e3aKc)
