Hello, I have used Linux Mint for about a year now on a HDD and want to do a fresh install of Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 with a 120gb SSD + 1TB HDD. I tried to do this in the past and had some difficulties with how to format the partitioning so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations for how the process works or if anyone has a guide in which they could link to me in this post.

I know I will need to do the following steps.

(Bios sata configuration is set to AHCI, I can change if anyone has other suggestions for bios settings.)

1 Boot off bootable installer
2 Install Linux Mint
3 Installation type: Something Else
4 Setup Partitions (From here down are the parts I am struggling with)
5 Specify partitions manually
6 " / " on SSD
7 "/home" on HDD
8 (I am unsure how the rest of the files should be setup or what file format(s) I should use.)

System Usage Scenario:
Web-browsing
Academics (GIMP, SHUTTER, MULTISM, MATLAB, LIBRE OFFICE)
Gaming (Runescape, Team Fortress 2, Morrowind)

If possible I would like to be able to have all the above programs and the operating system benefit from the SSD's higher read/write compared to the HDD. Any suggestions for how to format/partition everything to do this or a link to a guide with instructions for how to do so would be greatly appreciated.
