MINT 18.3 hangs at installing third party software

Post by archp2008 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 7:51 pm

After checking this optiona and clicking continue the installation seems to hang, although the hard drive activity light remains on for the full time (approx 40 minutes.) At this point I did a cold reset. I have been installing Windows OS's of late so my grub bootloader is gone. The only way I can access my Linux distros is with a supergrub2 disk but that does not allow me to write the retrieved grub boot loader to the MBR again. I have Grub Customizer on several distros but it does not retrieve the boot list (only the memtests and the current distro. This is after waiting all night. At the moment I have access to all my Windows OS's but that is all. I had been hoping that Mint would install and create a new bootloader including all the Linux distros.

Thanks in advance for any help.
