Unable to boot correctly

Post by lordvidian »

Dell Latitude E6410,

Linuxmint.

Unable to boot on linux as usual. Start lands on BusyBox initramfs prompt or whatever.
Looking for a technical support, it's not on my laptop though my friend's got that issue and i feel like i'll spend my whole day on it.
I'd like some help actually, would be great.

" BusyBox v1.22.1 ( Ubuntu 1:1.22.0-15ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs) "

That's what it says.

I'm new on linux and i don't really understand a shit about that. My friend too.

Not helpful to you, but I have developed exactly same problem. Eagerly awaiting a resolution.
Edit: can't post system details 'cos I can't boot, but it's 18.3 with newest kernel

Boot from a live usb/dvd and try to run a check of file system

Code: Select all

sudo fsck -yv /dev/sdaX
where /dev/sdaX is the partition where mint is installed, for example (only for example /dev/sda1) when done, restart the system , remove the live media and try to run the installed system

Thank you Sir. That worked like a charm, I am in your debt once again!
Apparently an inode was corrupted. I don`t know if it is a coincidence but the update manager was showing error boxes before this happened. Thanks again.

If this solution didn't work for you, maybe you should ask again. If it did work, as it did for me, perhaps you can mark it as (solved) to help others. Also, it's just common courtesy to thank someone for their help.
