Sylvia froozes at startup

Post by samiel60 »

I left the pc on for some hours during the copy of some files;
I found the screen all black and the pc froozed. Impossible to open other consoles.
I had to turn off the pc fisically.
At next reboot, the system told me:

Code: Select all

Serious error at /dev/sdc5
, which I mounted from fstab.
I cancelled that string from another distro and made a fsck; no errors on devices.
After, I reboot but Mint doesn't start: freezes with all black screen. Any idea?

thanx

Can you elaborate on the meaning of "I cancelled that string from another distro" please?

I boot from another Linux distro and cancelled the string
/dev/sdc5 /mnt/archive ext4 defaluts 0 2
from Mint fstab. At the next reboot, Mint freezed again

Can you edit the grub menu entry and remoe the "quiet spash $vt_handoff" kernel parameters. Then press F10 to boot, what error messages can you see ?
