Hi guys,
I have a new laptop i purchased and although i'm able to install linux mint 18.3 successfully, after I login, the mouse and keyboard and everything just freezes.
It's an MSI GE73-VR, like the one seen here https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE73VR-7RF-Raider.html
Specs are as follows:
- CPU Intel i7-7700HQ
- GeForce GTX 1070
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- 512GB SSD + 1TB (SATA) 7200rpm
- NIC Killer N1435
I tried changing the login setting to use 'software mode' rendering in cinnamon to no avail, also tried the xfce version instead of cinnamon, but same thing.
I would really appreciate help, Mint is my primary OS and if I can't get this working I'd like to try and return the laptop if I still can.
Thanks so much!

Re: Mint freezes on login
Oh as a follow up... when booting into Mint via the USB Live boot (which is what I used to start the installation) I don't have any issues... it's only post installation, and specifically after successful login, that the freeze occurs.
Re: Mint freezes on login
Can you try a reinstall and see what happens?

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)
Press Enter.

Re: Mint freezes on login
Hi, I also have a MSI GE73VR (same without SSD). But my one freezes a step earlier at installing mint. Tried it with different BIOS options/conf. (sec-boot;TPM,UEFI).. max.success was 50% of the installation:/ btw. inxi -Fx did not work in my mint-live.. any suggestions? thanks!!.
