Share same /home between Mint and Mint KDE

Postby thinkpad761 » Wed May 27, 2009 7:35 am

Hello everybody,

I want try for a while Mint KDE and I need your help concerning one point.

I would like to know if I can create a new partition where Mint KDE System will be installed and use the /home of my other Mint.

Thus I will be able to use my personal data on Mint Gnome as well on Mint KDE.

So if someone can confirm me I can do that and that there will be no problems, I will be glad.

Thank you so much in advance to everybody.

I would recommend you to create a separate partition for your data
You can not use the same user name and home for different systems even if they are as closely related as different tastes of Mint - this will mess things up pretty badly
You can however use the same home and different user names - no problem
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

Return to “Installation & Boot”
