Hi everyone!
Thanks to the Mint team as ever for their amazing work.
I can't boot the live cd.

It hangs at:
/dev/sda:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
I also noticed in a line above this that Pulse Audio has a red star, is that a problem?
I'm using a Toshiba Tecra A3X - it's about 3 years old.

Any suggestions? md5 is checked & I chose "check disc integrity" - it said it was OK. It booted in "Compatibility Mode" though I noticed the screen was just 800x600.

thanks,

Barry

Hey there,

I burned another disc & it worked fine. Sorry for wasting your time. Is there a "solved" label that can be attached?

It looks great. I've been a KDE man for ages but am definitely going to give the old Gnome a go with this. As ever Mint is tops. My main distro since Daryna. You never know, I might even install this on my other machine which still runs Daryna KDE CE on the principal of don't fix what ain't broke.

thanks again to Clem et al. :D

Cheers from Barry

You simply edit the original post's title (see my sig). It's strange that it passed the md5sum, and disk integrity check and still didn't work, but I'm glad you've sorted the issue. If anyone else has similar issues, you should be able to install from the compatibility mode, and hopefully it'll then detect your full resolution.

Thanks emorp.

BTW I encountered the same problem the second time I tried to boot my new disc, but not later.

I had a happy installation, but I got a message about my laptop battery being past its best. So maybe that caused the problem?

No complaints! This is the first time I've gone for a Gnome version & I'm liking it. It seems more intuitive & straightforward to use that KDE 4.2.

Best wishes

Barry

Hi
I've encountered same problem. I can't boot Gloria live cd (md5 was ok and 'check disk integrity' detects no errors). I'm getting :

Code: Select all

/dev/sda:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)

/dev/sda:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
(yes - twice).

Live cd boots up the system only in compatibility mode. My laptop: lenovo t61: 2.1ghz, 2gb ram, WD sata 160gb hdd and is few months old if this is important.
