Screen turns off after resume from hibernation

Post by fox27 » Thu Feb 01, 2018 12:22 pm

Dear Linux Mint Community,

I'm using Linux Mint 18.3 on my Acer TravelMate X349-G2-M [1]. I have a dual boot setup with the pre-installed Windows 10. I use hibernate to switch between the systems while keeping my stuff open. On Linux, suspend/STR is working as expected, but when I choose hibernate/STD, I'm not able to continue my work when Linux resumes after hibernation. My screen turns dark at the moment the login manager should show up. I'm not able to switch to another tty or do something else. I have to kill my computer by holding the power switch. I removed "quite splash" from grub so I can see the log while resuming. The last message I'm able to see is:

Code: Select all

PM: Image loading progress: 90%
What can I do to restore normale behavior? What logs/information do you need in order to help me with my problem?

Regards,
fox27

You can try installing latest kernel update of 4.13 series.
It can be done after installing ubuntu kernel update utility. Reboot afterwards and test
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help, and keeps the forum clean.
I am using Mint 19 Cinnamon 64 bit with AMD A8/7410 processor . Memory 8GB

I'm already using the latest kernel:

Code: Select all

fox@Fox-X349 ~ $ uname -a
Linux Fox-X349 4.13.0-32-generic #35~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 25 10:13:43 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have the same problem, after hibernating my TV stays black. Though I have no solution I do have a tip:

For me it helped to press Ctrl + Alt + F1. That opens a virtual terminal and somehow it also turns my TV back on. Than you can issue a reboot command and you don't have to hold the power button

Doesn't help for me. Screen keeps black, the screen is like turned off.
