HP OMEN laptop

Post by scq » Mon Feb 05, 2018 1:18 pm

Got a brand new OMEN laptop. Problems, trying to install mint 18.3 cinnamon 64 bit. Boots on my usb, but noticed it does not see wifi which is a Realtech RTL8822be. So I plugged in Ethernet. When I run the install it freezes right after I add my name , user id ect. Tried it a couple of times, same thing.

I checked out the link but it does not include my problem. Looks like system starts to install the files then freezes. When booting from the USB I notice an error updating I think the ATPI table. It scrolls by really fast.

Are you trying to install LM alongside Win 10.?

What are the specifications of the HP Omen laptop, ie processor, hard-drive, RAM, etc.?

Follow the procedure using "nomodeset" kernel parameter, freezes related to graphics is a common issue.

The nomodeset worked. Thanks. When I rebooted and selected linux off the boot menu I get "Selected boot image did not authenticate"
