How to restore display with mint 18.2 64 bit

Post by Sanjiao » Thu Feb 08, 2018 6:53 am

Hello friends,

Yesterday i had no special work, only update service. Today when i started my laptop (Compaq 15) i saw the screen enlarged and cut on left and right side, but most important is, that the start button is not shown.

How can i repair this, for each help i would be grateful.
thank you in advance

First lets get your Start button back; do a right click on the panel and reduce 'width' until you can see the 'start' menu button. If that doesn't work just pick 'add item' and put a 2nd 'Start' button where you can see it.

To fix the resolution go in your Control Centre >> Display >> and reset your resolution back to what it should be. Best do a reboot to check if it holds. If all is ok again right click on the 2nd 'Start' button and 'remove from panel'.
