How to totally format my HDD within GNU Gurb 2.02 or

Post by justearn » Thu Feb 08, 2018 8:17 am

Hi,
Please advise me how do I format my whole HDD.
My Linx mint 18.1 Serena is not working. Everything was working perfectly and suddenly my laptop restart before LM logo or some times on desktop and not picking up OS properly. I have already tried to install refresh one but failed at various stages.
First I thought that my fan is not working but in memo check it runs 20 to 30 minutes. so it is fine. I have checked all hardware items all are fine.
I have tries Upstart and recovery mode but not succeed.
Now I decided to right off all and install again. please Help. Thanks

You can format from the application GParted that is present on a live medium of Mint (DVD or USB). Grub can't do that, and you'll need to be booted from something else than the HDD that you want to format, as you can't format a mounted partition.
