Linux Mint partition size.. [solved]

Hello,

At the moment I have Installed Linux Mint 18.1 Xfce on a Dual boot laptop and the Linux Mint partition was set at 20GB. However I have noticed after several updates the partition size is shrinking fast... Just wondering how large will this Mint operating system get??

The way you have Mint installed has only the / (root) partition which contains not only the OS, but also your files and settings. 20 GB is fine for just the OS, but you'll need more to hold everything else.

Either give more room to that partition by using Gparted from a live dvd or usb or:
If you're game, you may want to reinstall and use the ‘Something else' option and create 3 partitions.
/ (the root partition) = 20 GB
/home (this partition will hold your documents, settings,etc.) = as much as you can in GB
Swap = 1.5 times the amount of your RAM. Swap is for hibernation purposes and when RAM is running low.

20gb is not a lot of file space these days, particularly if that includes your /home directory..
Use your Disk Usage Analyzer from your Menu and try to find the culprit file hog.
