Rescue XP Laptop

Post by mike acker » Sun Mar 04, 2018 4:24 pm

I'm assisting a fellow who hopes to spare his XP laptop from the bin...

I found a guide for checking his cpu -- he probably has an x86 -- so xfce is likely his est option--

after he downloads the .ispo he'll need to burn it. as far as I can tell old xp systems don't have a burn option for .iso

however it appears there's a program called cdburnerxp -- that's likely a good choice

thoughts / suggestions ?

ImgBurn should do the job:

thanks

I'm going to suggest this individual to get a friend to help him download and burn the iso. too, he'll need to run the live system a bit -- make sure he has internet connect. he'll need an external hard drive to handle the backup/restore.
