Unable to connect to upstart

Post by GSimpson »

I can't login. Get this message.
Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of diskspace. Try logging i with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix the problem.

Advice appreciated

I can boot into win 10 which I am using at the moment. The problem occurred after a win10 session. Could windows have damaged Linux somehow?

There was an update today that caused problems for a lot of people. This will most likely fix it for you:

The instructions allowed me to login again to my relief.
The cure did cause some problems such as no wifi, bluetooth, nvidia display drivers and no recognising external USB drives
I used Timeshift to restore using a snapshot it had done this morning. It took a while but on reboot all good.

Thanks for the help. :)
