Linux Mint 19 Edition Beta ISO
Hi,
When will Tara installer „Beta” be available for testing?
Is it already?
Unfortunately not here:
http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/linuxmint.com/testing/
I've edited the sources lists (tara, bionic), and make update/upgrade, but it would be better to test the installation.

As Clem already said: somewhere in May...kimarite wrote: ⤴Tue May 01, 2018 4:44 am Hi,

With that, you've created a Frankenstein Mint.I've edited the sources lists (tara, bionic), and make update/upgrade, but it would be better to test the installation.

Re: Linux Mint 19 Edition Beta ISO
If everything goes smoothly, we should see the BETA releases in May, followed by the the stable releases 2 or 3 weeks later.

Re: Linux Mint 19 Edition Beta ISO
Thanks Pjotr and Marziano, I'm looking forward to the beta release of May.
Pjotr, well Frankenstein is my Mint, very playful. Cinnamon does not start well, just black background and mouse pointer. I installed the LXDE desktop environment, but I'm trying to improve it, but there is a lot of work in the home (around the house), my time is relatively small on weekends. I had to remove the upstart, which is automatic during Ubuntu 18.04 release. There is some systemd or autostart problem under Cinnamon, I look at logs, but there are not many really meaningful information.
It's just an idea: I've been in the past that security levels should be built using apt-pinning. Because according to the present, levels can be decomposed by the update / update or synaptic package manager.
Would the apt-pinning method be hard way?

... recently use the Cinnamon unstable PPA, for a test:
https://launchpad.net/~gwendal-lebihan- ... on-nightly
The black background and the mouse pointer before and after the PPA is used are the same (only Cinnamon DE), in my opinion there may be some adjustment problems.

Nightly builds of Cinnamon.... It gets even worse. Frankenstein Mint on steroids.kimarite wrote: ⤴Tue May 01, 2018 5:31 am And I have a new GIMP (2.10), it's all right.

With a toxic stew like that, nothing works predictably or reliably. Don't seek help here, because we can't give any help for a system that, if it were an airplane, would look like this:
No offense, though. Creating crazy stuff can be fun; I do it myself sometimes on test machines. But I know I can't expect any help from anybody for such a crazy test setup, when I encounter problems....

I hope to hell you';re doing this on a spare computer you don't need because at the rate you're blindly going your system will be borked completely.kimarite wrote: ⤴Tue May 01, 2018 5:21 am Thanks Pjotr and Marziano, I'm looking forward to the beta release of May.

The best way to find out when the Beta becomes available is to watch the Mint Blog. It's always announced there as soon as it's available.
I subscribe to the Blog RSS feed, using Thunderbird as a feed reader.

Re: Linux Mint 19 Edition Beta ISO
I looked at the .xsessions-errors.old file and found it

I can not show a screenshot now because I'm going to work..

Which clipboard handling application works well under Linux Mint 18.3?
https://alternativeto.net/software/clip ... form=linux
ClipIt working Linux Mint 19, but 18.x not. The qlipper ... no.
Does anyone use this and, if so, which one?
Here's I finded the explanation,Settings schema 'org.gnome.Vino' does not contain a key named 'enabled
Aborted...
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1 ... art-0.html
Code: Select all
gsettings set org.gnome.Vino enabled true
No such key 'enabled'
I deleted the Vino application (no better solution) and now starts the Cinnamon. The problem is, that vino-3.14 (~amd64) and gnome-control-center-3.12 (stable) are not compatible, because the "enabled" key has been removed in 3.14.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get purge vino
