On some occasions, my computer will not shut down correctly. Most times it does, but then sometimes will not do so.
When I select shutdown in the start menu, it will go to a dark grey screen, but the red light on the front is still on and fans running etc. indicating it is still running.
Computer details here:

Re: Occasional shutdown problem
I have installed kshutdown after receiving a suggestion from phd21.
Thanks Phil.
This will probably correct the problem.

Re: Occasional shutdown problem
The output that you posted is impossible to read. You can copy/paste from the terminal into your post, and enclose the results in-between
[ⅽode]
and [/ⅽode]
code markers by selecting </>
from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply. As for the shutdown problem, this is more than likely due to some application you've been running. You need to take note of what applications you were running when the problem occurs.

Re: Occasional shutdown problem
Thanks for those instructions Catweazel. (I should have know this! -- apologies)
Is this how it should be posted?:
As for the program that I might have been running, it is very likely to be FreeCad or Qcad, as I have been using both these a lot lately.
Thanks again,
Jim.
