refuses to update kernel

Post by n4ev »

I have a Dell D630 with LM 18.03 installed and works OK. The last few kernel updates were downloaded and installed but they would not boot. My system uses
the '.116 kernel still. I can go the grub menu and manually boot the new kernel but it should automatically boot.
Has anyone else had this problem and what do you do to solve it?

Stuck at 116

Dual boot with another Linux? Ever used Grub Customizer?

Hello, n4ev.

Could you, please, post the screen output of the terminal commands:

Code: Select all

uname -a
and

Code: Select all

inxi -Sxx
This will give us your Mint version and the complete kernel version string. Just the trailing .116 is ambiguous. We need the complete kernel version string, please.
Also, please, post the screen output of the terminal command:

Code: Select all

ls -l /boot
This will tell us which kernel versions are present on your disk.

Best regards,
Karl
