I just compared two LM versions I am running. My Lenovo Thinkpad T400 Core2 Duo running LM 17.3 MATE boots up to the signon screen in 40 sec. My Lenovo T420 i5 Quad Core running LM 18.3 MATE boots up to the signon screen in a whopping 130 sec. Update Manager is current. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you solve it? Thanks.
UPDATE: I followed Xenopeek's advice here viewtopic.php?f=46&t=270961 by editing the /etc/fstab file and commenting out the Swap partition line. The Thinkpad running 18.3 MATE is just my test machine and Swap will not be needed. The boot up time to the signon screen was 130 sec. and it is now 40 sec. like my other Thinkpad running 17.3 MATE.

Re: <SOLVED> LM 18.3 MATE Very Long Boot Up Time
There's a 90 second timeout for looking for the non-existent UUID for swap (you probably had a mismatch in fstab), so 130 - 90 = 40.rbeltz48 wrote:The boot up time to the signon screen was 130 sec. and it is now 40 sec.
