I have searched, but I cant find this particular issue.
I upgraded from Mint 18.3 to Mint 19. All went well, then I did the kernel updates to 4.15.0.24. It now boots to a command line for desktop login, no Mint splash screen. I login, then run 'sudo systemctl/ start lightdm.. It then boots to the gui login screen and runs normal. I went back to kernel 4.15.0.20, but I still have the problem. It boots on the live cd just fine, and that dvd is also at kernel 20. I can get to the grub screen with the 'right shift key' at bootup . I have the nvidia 390 driver installed..
Asrock planar with nvidia video card..
Any suggestions?

Re: Mint 19 upgrade boots to desktop login command
I went to my bios, changed uefi support, then changed it back to default. The boot problem seems to have cleared...
