[Solved] Multiboot with btrfs subvolumes?

Post by rui no onna » Thu Jul 19, 2018 7:00 pm

Help please! I'm new to Linux and wish to setup multiboot for various distros. I was able to get multiboot with multiple ext4 partitions working with grub (MBR) but I have limited space (128GB SSD) and btrfs seemed like a much better option.

I tried following the instructions here skipping the stuff that deals with encryption but I got stuck when I got to the chroot portion (is chroot and multiple ext4 boot partitions even necessary if I don't need encryption?):

I think the following guide might work better for me except it's hard to follow and the instructions assume familiarity with Linux and command line so they go way over my head.

I'm starting from scratch and I've already nuked the partition table and switched to GPT so no important data or any existing partitions/installs to worry about. Thank you very much in advance! :)

That thread on Kubuntu forums apparently has a number of follow-ups.

One of these days, I'll document the steps I followed since I didn't find the above to be super friendly to newbies.
