Updates were available this morning and, upon inspection, I found subject kernel available.
OK, did the install. After some short testing (booting was important
), found that this one seems to have fixed at least some of the problems we had with 4.15.0-24
Code: Select all
$ uname -a
Linux desktop 4.15.0-29-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 17 15:39:52 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ dpkg -l | grep linux-image

Kernel update 4.15.0-29 may have fixed some but not all problems. Once again I reverted to 4.15.0-23 which is reliable on my system.
The problem I experienced with 4.15.0-29, as with 4.15.0-24 was that switching on power to my modem/router would boot the computer like an automatic wake-on-lan needing a re-boot to engage the Network Manager.
