Thanks for the help in advance!
Mint 17.1
installed kernel 3.13.0-153 generic
Got a brief message about not being able to install the full package. another about a broken package but could not find that.
When rebooting, Mint will load but I do not have mouse or keyboard (they are both USB)
If I reboot and select another kernel in the Grub menu, everything works fine.
1) How do I fix kernel 3.13.0-153?
Remove and reinstall it and if so how?
2) Or how do I remove it, and just use the earlier version?
I've not had any other problems with installing the kernel generics in the past.
Again, thanks for the help!

Re: lost usb after kernel upgrade Mint 17.1
Hi 3pinner.
You can remove the offending kernel via Update Manager > View > Linux kernels
Afterwards, the Update Manager will offer it again, and maybe this time you could get exact details about the errors.
One possibility is / or /boot is too full that could be seen with

df -h
and if so, you probably need to delete some older kernels using the same instructions above.Re: lost usb after kernel upgrade Mint 17.1
Thank you I'll give it a shot and post back.
Hope this helps someone else out down the line!

Re: lost usb after kernel upgrade Mint 17.1
That worked.
I opened Update Manager, view, kernels, found the offending kernel and deleted it. Restarted, and it runs fine.
In the grub boot menu, I have about eight kernels from 3.13.0.37 up to 3.13.0.151 (which I am currently running)
How many of these should I keep?
Thanks again.

Re: lost usb after kernel upgrade Mint 17.1
Keep the current one, and one previously known-working kernel is the usual suggestion.
