[SOLVED] Installation message "this computer has only 0 bytes disc space remaining"

Post by yekko_888 »

Hi!!!

My laptop is Asus X441U with ICore7, RAM 8GB. When I'm trying installing Linuxmint 19, get this error "this computer has only 0 bytes disc space remaining" and the process is freezed.

Someone can help me. Thanks.

Can you, instead of starting the installer, start GParted, make a screenshot of your disks and post that (or a link to it) here?

Hi Moem

In this moment I can' but I have next partitioning:

/ ext4 (300GB)
/home ext4 (100GB)
/VirtualMachines ext4 (500GB)
swap (18GB)

The laptop is only for Linux. I had tried the last version for Debian and I had troubles too. I think is my laptop.

Thanks

And is there any free space?
Where are you trying to install? Which option are you trying (full disk, alongside, Something Else)?

In this case, you'll need to manually shrink one (or more) of the existing partitions e.g. using GParted to create some unallocated space, prior to running the installer, which can be partitioned and formatted as desired; either before or during the installation process.

Hi guys!!!

I get it. For install linux mint I did following

1. With Live cd another distribution I created one partition fat32 for EFI at the beginning of the hard disk, with GParted. The size 1GB.
2. Install Linux mint 19 without problems.

Thanks ;)

Regards.
