Boot file deletion

Is there anyway I can stop Mint being deleted from my bootable USB? Deleting critical boot files is just a case of right click and delete! :shock:

Yes there is. You probably have the install on a fat32 file system. Bad idea. Set up a ext2 file system on the usb stick and install on that. Then your standard Linux file permissions will protect the system the way it was designed to.

OK I'll try that. Am I still able to copy the file syslinux.cfg over? Or don't I need to do that any more?

I've tried that and the USB disk creator won't recognise a ext2 system, I'll try setting permissions from root.
