https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_tara_cinnamon.php

Scroll down to Solving freezes during the boot sequence.

You don't say what version or edition of Mint so I'm assuming it's Mint 19 Cinnamon.

Cheers.

Wrong command. It's an upper case F as I stated above inxi -Fxz. Linux is case sensitive, unlike Windwoes.

The first thing to do is update your BIOS.

Have simular issue on a MSI board. Don't intend to steal your question but seems we have a similar issue.
About 40% of the boot are successfull, Then sometime its stucks on the error msg, or after the error msg screen goes black.
When boot fails I have to do 1 or several resets b4 the system is ready.
Tara is running since end July 2018, if boot is successfull itś amazing fast... within 15 seconds ready to use.
Splash screens (BIOS & Linux) are disabled. Using latest kernel and bios update.
Tara was installed with USB drive (no optical available)
The SSD drive is a M.2. type.
Waited some time before adressing this forum, because noticed that this issue has been around for some time.
Some users were helped by latest Linux kernel, but up till now there was no solution to my system combi.
BTW the MSI bios is rather simple, most are "auto" or there is not much you can change apart from the special overclock which I don't use.
